As of January 2006, all buidlings will require an energy certificate indicating :

  • Energy Efficiency (fuel costs)
  • Environmental Impact (carbon emissions)

This certificate has been used for selling household refrigerators for several years in the UK. As of january 2006, all buildings will also require this certificate. Higher rated (more energy efficient) buildings will command higher market prices at sale, or justify higher letting prices due to their lower running costs. Lower rated buildings will be difficult to sell or let and will ultimately suffer great reductions in market value. The certificate ultimately highlights the false economy of installing energy-inefficient equipment in a commercial kitchen.
